Polpettone! Cheese Stuffed Meatballs


Get ready for pure indulgence and a very full belly! Polpettone are giant cheese stuffed and breaded meatballs! They're easy to make and delicious to eat!


Polpettone:  Ground beef, Onion, Garlic cloves, Breadcrumbs, Parmesan Cheese, Eggs, Salt, black pepper, mozzarella cheese Breading and Sauce:   Breadcrumbs, Dried Oregano, salt, pepper, Olive Oil Spray, Marinara Tomato Sauce

Prep Ingredients


Dice the onion.  Mince the garlic.  Measure out the other ingredients.

Mix the beef


In a large mixing bowl, add the ground beef, onion, garlic, 1 cup breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, eggs, salt, and pepper. Using your hands, mix to completely combine all of the ingredients.

Make patties


Divide the mixture in half in the bowl and then divide each half into thirds, so that you can make sure to get 3 patties from each half, for a total of 6. Take one of the 6 sections of beef and form it into a 1-in thick patty.

Stuff with Cheese


Place mozzarella cheese in the center of the patty and then  gently fold the sides of the patty up around the cheese so you can no longer see any of the cheese. 

Bread & bake


Press each patty in the breadcrumbs, oregano, salt and pepper.  Place on an oiled sheet pan.  Spray with oil and bake.

Heat the sauce


Heat the tomato sauce and then serve the polpettone in the sauce.
